Where’s my order, Siri?
Dinner’s late. You could open the delivery app, find your order and check the map. Apple wants you to be able to ask Siri where your food is and have the app answer.
On Tuesday, Apple opened a preview that lets any app developer teach Siri how to do things their app already does. Checking a delivery is one example Apple gives. Another is booking a table. The restaurant app would tell Siri how to make the reservation, and you could ask for it in your own words.
Apple has started rolling out similar changes in its own apps. Say you want to go back to a coffee shop but can’t remember its name. Apple says you can ask Siri to find the one you visited last week.
Whether Siri can track your dinner will depend on which app you ordered from. Developers can start testing now. Apple says they’ll be able to submit their apps to the App Store in the spring.
